AEML lab opens at KIST
The Advanced Electron Microscopy Laboratory officially opens at KIST's Advanced Analysis and Data Center.
A New Chapter in Electron Microscopy Research at KIST
In January 2024, the Advanced Electron Microscopy Laboratory (AEML) officially opened at the Advanced Analysis and Data Center (AADC), Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST).
The lab is led by Dr. Young-Woon Byeon, who conducted research on in-situ/operando TEM, 4D-STEM, and AI/ML-assisted electron microscopy analysis at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL).
Research Goals
AEML aims to push the boundaries of materials characterization in the following areas:
- Development of damage-less TEM analysis techniques
- Multi-scale correlative analysis
- AI/ML-based electron microscopy analysis workflows
- Collaborative research on energy storage materials
Facilities
The lab is equipped with state-of-the-art instruments including the Titan probe Cs-corrected S/TEM, Talos F200X, and Tecnai G2 F20.
