Dr. Young-Woon Byeon and the KIST TEM team visited Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Materials & Structural Analysis Division in Eindhoven, Netherlands, on November 26–27, 2025, for the Pre-shipment Performance Demonstration (PPD) of the newly introduced Spectra Ultra S/TEM.
During the two-day session, the team verified the core performance of the system, including its atomic-resolution imaging capabilities and the high-speed Ultra-X EDS system. The demonstration confirmed that the instrument meets the rigorous specifications required for advanced materials research at KIST.
The Spectra Ultra S/TEM is expected to be installed at the KIST Advanced Analysis and Data Center in early 2026, providing a powerful platform for atomic-scale characterization and 4D-STEM analysis of energy storage materials.
