Overview
The Thermo Fisher Scientific Spectra Ultra is a state-of-the-art double aberration-corrected S/TEM equipped with an XFEG-Ultimono electron source. It delivers 60 pm TEM imaging resolution, 50 pm STEM resolution, and an unprecedented 0.025 eV energy resolution for EELS — enabling atomic-scale imaging and spectroscopy of the most challenging materials.
Key Features
- Double Cs-correction: Both TEM (CETCOR) and STEM (S-CORR) aberration correctors for sub-ångström imaging in all modes
- XFEG-Ultimono source: Ultra-high brightness with monochromated energy spread of 0.025 eV
- Panther 16-segment STEM detector: Advanced segmented detector for differential phase contrast (DPC) and integrated DPC (iDPC) imaging
- 4.04 srad EDS collection: Super-X class EDS geometry for high-throughput elemental mapping
- Multi-voltage operation: Flexible acceleration voltage from 30 kV to 300 kV for beam-sensitive and bulk materials
Applications
- High-resolution imaging and EELS of energy storage materials
- Atomic-resolution EDS/EELS mapping of interfaces and defects
- Low-voltage imaging of beam-sensitive materials (polymers, solid electrolytes)
- 4D-STEM and differential phase contrast imaging
